Brian Kemp Has Become His own Political Party, Says 'FU' to Georgia GOP
Says "traditional party infrastructure" unreliable
Blessed by a majority of Republicans in the 2021 Georgia legislature, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has become exceedingly more powerful than the Georgia Republican Party, and he knows it. Buoyed by the political success of winning a second, final term, Kemp has effectively declared that the Georgia GOP has outlived its modern usefulness, and should be put out to pasture. To Kemp, the Georgia GOP has become obsolete, unreliable. Therefore, the governor can effectively say, “FU,” to the Georgia GOP and his now estranged, Georgia Republican voters.
To be clear, Brian Kemp is no longer simply Georgia’s Governor. Brian Kemp is Georgia’s King, at least for the next four years. In passing SB221, Republicans in the 2021 General Assembly effectively coronated Kemp, handing him the power to raise unlimited campaign funds from anyone and everyone, including out-of-state corporate entities desiring an audience for King Kemp to hear their requests. As a result, Kemp has recently declared his intention to abandon the GOP, as it exists, in essence reforming the Georgia Republican Party into a new image, the Brian Kemp image.
Georgia’s Governor can do that because state government is a fountainhead of riches for those who muster the price of membership necessary for inclusion in Kemp’s elite club of campaign contributors established under SB221. That club is King Kemp’s Georgia First Leadership Committee. Asking little of the Georgia GOP, Kemp’s committee amassed over $71 million paving the way for his reelection in 2022. Renouncing the favor of Georgia GOP voting members, riding his 2022 success Kemp recently spoke to his elite contributors, “We can no longer rely on the traditional party infrastructure to win in the future.”
So, there it is, with political power unleashed by GOP lawmakers in 2021, Brian Kemp just said, “FU” to the Georgia GOP and GOP voters, expressing favor for a newly-legislated, proprietary scheme of amassing political contributions, a direct appeal to the richest of the rich, and wealthy corporate entities in search of rewards only a king’s favor can provide.
And Kemp has no fear of reprisal. He knows that given few options a beaten wife often returns to her abuser, thus Georgia GOP voters will continue to support their crowned king. Kemp knows that in addition because, while the king is chief rainmaker and chief grantor of political favors, he is also chief propagandist. A good propagandist always knows the buttons to push to incline the hearts of the public to remain faithful, albeit while insulting the political intelligence of the few informed Republicans remaining at-large.
Under the new Brian Kemp Georgia GOP, the former Party of Lincoln would effectively become a politburo, a supreme council of oligarchical elites in which the parties determining government policy would actually become the wealthiest donors a state-wide office holder or candidate can recruit, using excess campaign contributions to rain favor upon legislators who pledge support. Have you never wondered why Georgia consistently repeats as America's "best state in which to do business?" It's because Georgia’s legislators’ palms are the easiest to grease, engineering political operations like SB221, which result in 'carve-outs' of special favors for individuals, private companies and even entire industries, perks which year-after-year reestablish Georgia as America's favorite place in which to receive financial advantage. But can you blame business? No, blame opportunistic legislators, themselves seeking favor from the king.
And so now, since SB221 passed in 2021, signed into law practically under the cover of darkness by Brian Kemp, isn't it wonderful that an oligarchical few, bellies to the bar alongside the wealthiest business entities, can now invest unlimited funds into the campaign coffers of state-wide government executives or hopefuls, and in return receive their own personal list of cellphone numbers to call whenever they desire special consideration, or legislation to accrue to their financial benefit? That is the Georgia Republican Party Brian Kemp is forming. That is what legalized corruption looks like.
Oh, and friends, this isn’t new. There is even a term describing the form of government Brian Kemp is actively piecing together for Georgia. It's called, "corporate fascism." Indeed, that's what its called. It’s been done before, many times, always ending in disaster. Sometime when you have a moment, look up what happened to the chap, Mussolini.
You may be wondering how some local legislators voted on SB221. I'll tell you. Here they are:
Senator Greg Dolezal...................………………voted NO, thank you, Greg!
Representative Lauren McDonald.............voted YES, now Kemp’s House Floor Leader & Head Water Toter
Senator Steve Gooch.....................……………...voted YES and sponsored the bill, not surprising
Representative Todd Jones..........................voted YES, of course, no scam too big
Representative Sheri Gilligan.....................voted YES, surprising
Representative Rick Jasperse……………………..voted Yes, there you go
And one name on the list is now Georgia’s Lt. Governor,
Senator Burt Jones..........................…………….voted NO, thank you, Burt!
Here is the full Georgia Senate vote.
Here is the full Georgia House vote.
And a final footnote: One other notorious state-wide Republican office holder eligible to receive unlimited campaign funds from private sources under SB221, even out-of-state, is Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Who do you expect to become Georgia’s next Governor in 2026? You really wonder?
And I thought David Ralston was dangerous. This is unbelievable. Both my Representative, Stan Gunter and Senator Bo Hatchett voted FOR this bill. There will come a time when those in leadership will have to read and understand bills presented to them for voting. Simple one subject bills the way it was designed. Thanks for your insight and help on these matters.
Than you so much Hank for putting this matter in its proper perspective. I complain in my heart and with my MAGA girls that this 2022 election was machine rigged. Please... no one I personally know wanted “Rattsburger
